Description

Charlotte Latin School is seeking a Maintenance employee to begin immediately. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing buildings and mechanical equipment. This includes restoring, repairing, rebuilding, and replacing broken components. Knowledge of small engine repair and mechanical experience is preferred. This 12-month, full-time position reports directly to the Director of Facilities Services.


 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform basic building related maintenance work
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor plumbing and electrical problems
  • Perform general carpentry
  • Inspect assigned buildings/related fixtures, mechanical equipment, machines and other structural components
  • Obtain equipment and supplies required to complete assignments
  • Perform preventative maintenance in and around facilities
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Facilities Director

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma/GED or vocational school diploma
  • Five or more years of related work experience
  • Basic working knowledge in equipment maintenance and repair, preferred
  • Valid drivers license
  • Willing to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), at the Schools expense, in order to operate a school bus.
  • Or combination of equivalent experience, education, and training

Skills

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle, hand/power tools and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work safely in an environment containing caustic chemicals, cleaning materials, dust and noise.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work conditions
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Adheres to the highest level of professionalism 

Working Conditions and Environment

  • Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity
  • Frequently talk and hear
  • Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold
  • Long or odd hours, as needed
