MPD, Inc. operates in seven distinct businesses: microwave, ceramic and fuseholder components, produced by MPD Components, Inc. and FIC Corporation; breath alcohol instruments, manufactured by CMI, Inc. in the United States and Lion Laboratories Ltd. in the United Kingdom;  speed detection systems, distance measurement systems and in-car video recording systems produced by Kustom Signals, Inc. and MPH Industries, Inc.; and two-way radio equipment sold by Ohio Valley 2-Way Radio, Inc. in certain geographical areas of Kentucky and Indiana. The Company’s products are marketed worldwide by MPD employees and independent distributors.  MPD’s customers include U.S. & foreign military services and their contractors, avionics manufacturers, law enforcement organizations, industrial companies and commercial concerns. Approximately three-quarters of the Company’s sales are derived from a diverse mix of federal, state, local and foreign government purchases.

 

Supervisor - Shipping/Receiving/Material Control

 

BROAD FUNCTION

Supervise receipt and distribution of purchased material and products. Supervise receiving, warehousing and processing of finished goods. Supervise and direct the activities of all non-exempt employees assigned to the warehouse. Maintain export compliance documentation in accordance with government regulations. Maintain communication and documentation necessary to support the receipt, allocation, shipment, posting of invoices and follow-up of government and commercial orders.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for packing and/or shipping of finished goods, parts and miscellaneous supplies.
  • Responsible for the ordering of/and stocking of all packing materials and supplies.
  • Work with production units to ensure an even flow of products into area to affect timely shipments for customer needs.
  • Supervise others to properly receive, account and distribute all items coming into the warehouse, both from the factory and from vendors.
  • Ensure that equipment, tools, fixtures and assigned areas are maintained and are in good operating condition to minimize breakdown.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Train, instruct and counsel employees and providing the necessary tools and equipment so that all jobs can be performed economically and efficiently.
  •  Plan space and people requirements and recommend required equipment. Interpret the project work load, determine priorities and make necessary adjustments.
  • Direct the work of all personnel assigned to area to achieve efficient and prompt service to customers.
  • Receive process and service pick lists. Expedite and coordinate emergency orders through all processing steps to ensure prompt delivery.
  • Maintain export compliance documentation in accordance with government laws and regulations.
  • Communicate with transportation companies on receipt, pickup shipments and other related transportation matters. Keep up-to-date on the latest routing and transportation options in order to provide maximum service at the lowest cost to MPD and customers
  • When applicable, negotiate transportation rates with vendors to ensure maximum service at the lowest cost to MPD and customers.
  • Obtain receivers from vendors, returns from customers and posting of material transfers and other transactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing material.
  • Plan and manage cycle inventory counts to ensure accurate inventory records.
  • Proactively identify, develop and implement improvements to the stockroom.
  • Interact with related departments to determine priorities and ensure proper handling of discrepancies.
  • All other duties as assigned by Manager or company.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience
  • Associate’s Degree in Business or related field
  • Experience in shipping and warehousing material
  • Vendor Management
  • HAZMAT shipping experience preferred
  • Proficiency in creating timely reports for vendors and MPD management team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based software.
