TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires the individual to perform a broad range of activities and duties needing full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and hand and eye coordination. The position requires ability to instruct and observe participants in swim skills advancement and proper stroke techniques. It requires the ability to lift equipment and a small to average child, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods of time as well as work irregular hours.

Work involves active aquatic environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Communicate and promote the YMCA mission, goals and objectives to employees, volunteers and the community at large.
- Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
- Serve in an advisory capacity to insure a safe aquatic environment is maintained at the YMCA aquatic facility.
- Promote a safe and positive atmosphere during scheduled working hours.
- Build effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; help them connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc).
- Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refer students and parents to other programs.
- Organize and put away needed equipment. Report damaged equipment.
- Responsible for any other duties as assigned by the Director of Aquatics.
