Job Description Summary
The Collections Specialist is responsible for managing and executing the collection of past-due rent and fees across a portfolio of multifamily properties. This role ensures compliance with fair housing laws and company policies while working closely with residents, property managers, and legal teams to resolve delinquencies in a timely and professional manner.
What You’ll Do (Functions & Responsibilities)
- Manage the collections process for past-due balances owed by property management companies (PMCs) or individual properties based on current aging reports (0–90+ days).
- Work assigned accounts designated by the Collections Manager, prioritizing outreach based on age and risk level of outstanding balances.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging daily and proactively follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure timely payment.
Communicate directly with PMC contacts (e.g., regional managers, accountants, or corporate billing teams) to resolve outstanding balances and discrepancies.
