Job purpose

The goal of the Sleepland bedding Specialist is to provide a world-class mattress shopping experience for Furnitureland South guests. This individual will be a resource for the sales team and their clientele as a product knowledge expert in bedding. The Sleep Specialist will work closely with their manager and Sales Leaders to create a welcoming atmosphere that drives traffic to Sleepland. This individual should strive to have the most thoughtfully curated, and best breadth of product available in the marketplace. This individual should possess the business acumen, maturity, passion, and drive to ensure all expected deliverables are met.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Greet Clients in a warm and welcoming way in the Sleepland Gallery.  
  2. Stay abreast of Sleep/Mattress industry trends to inform decision-making and product recommendations.
  3. Interact with Clients via the telephone and in-person conversation in the Sleepland Gallery fielding questions related to mattress and sleep needs.
  4. Routinely assess the display of products and make adjustments based on popularity and volume of products sold.
  5. Guide clients to suitable manufacturing lines in cases where specific brand names are not available at Furnitureland South; adept at diagnosing clients' sleep requirements and providing tailored product suggestions.
  6. Conduct comprehensive research on product pricing, including competitor analysis online and offline, and regularly audit pricing on various item displays to ensure competitiveness.
  7. Act as a knowledgeable resource for clients and Design Consultants regarding all matters related to mattresses, offering insights and guidance.
  8. Lead training sessions for internal partners to enhance product knowledge and ensure consistent customer service excellence.
  9. Develop comprehensive training materials and inventory resources for internal use, facilitating efficient operations and informed decision-making.
  10. Participate in sales-related events and programs to facilitate the achievement of company goals.
  11. Conduct a weekly inventory audit to ensure accurate stock levels, identify discrepancies, and maintain inventory integrity.
  12. Perform a variety of administrative duties including data entry, record keeping, and coordination of communications, which are essential to the daily operations of Sleepland.
  13. Execute miscellaneous operational tasks such as generating daily reports, conducting inventory research, resolving customer service issues, creating price cards, and other responsibilities as needed to support the Sleepland Gallery.
  14. Physically present at the on-campus store during regular business hours.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Two to four years of sales experience.
  • Retail sales experience, including experience with matters related to retail math.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Two to four years of sales experience in mattresses and/or bedding.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communication, or a related field.
  3. Advanced level in Microsoft Office Suite.
  4. Experience giving product presentations and facilitating trainings.

 

Working conditions

This job is an onsite position that operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

 

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This job may require extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting. This would require the ability to lift product, open and close product, or carry small items weighing up to 15 lbs.
