Job Summary: The Portfolio Manager (PM) is responsible for servicing and retaining a loan portfolio while minimizing the banks credit risk exposure and maximizing client satisfaction. This will be accomplished through their thorough understanding of the Bank’s credit risk appetite and financial analysis, their control and management of loan renewals, new loan requests and as being a trusted advisor on the clients’ banking needs. The PM will also uncover future banking needs by executing on a proactive approach towards deepening and expanding the client relationships within their portfolio. The PM will require direct client calls, structuring loan proposals, loan pricing, referring new deposit accounts or Treasury Management products; while driving to succeed and uphold the CommerceWest Bank principle of providing “myth-like” experiences and uphold the Bank’s brand.
Essential Functions:
- Structure and recommend to approval authorities credit facilities that both meet bank credit criteria and best service client needs.
- Evaluate financial and other client data for any changes in credit risk or client needs for clients within PM’s portfolio.
- Enhances the loyalty and profitability of existing relationships, growing new profitable relationships, and referring opportunities to other parts of the company.
- Review/analyze third party reports such as appraisals, environmental analysis, credit reports, preliminary title reports, and UCC reports.
- Prepare credit underwriting analysis and other credit memoranda to support new and renewing credit facilities.
- Reviews, processes, and prepares documentation for loans; ensures that it is complete, legal, and in compliance with regulatory and bank requirements.
- Ensure timely collection of financial statements, tax returns, and other credit information for new loan assessment and existing credit compliance. Partner with Credit Reporting Associates to accurately spread financial statements and communicate covenant review and other financial statement summary reports.
- Works with the Business Banking Officers and Account Officers to ensure a smooth client onboarding experience, new account process, enhance client growth and retention as well as identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Ensures that loans and other assets are appropriately, and timely risk rated in accordance with the Bank’s loan policy.
- Performs other duties and special projects as needed and assigned.
