Job Summary:

The Floor Technician is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents by performing specialized floor care and other environmental services. This position involves maintaining the facility's flooring, assisting with furniture moves, and ensuring compliance with infection control and safety guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Floor Maintenance and Care (50%)
    • Vacuum and spot clean all carpeted areas using extraction machines.
    • Perform various floor care tasks, including stripping, scrubbing, buffing, waxing/sealing, and burnishing floors in residents' rooms, hallways, and dining rooms.
    • Shampoo and extract carpets as needed, including spin-bonneting carpets.
  2. Furniture and Room Relocation (15%)
    • Assist with moving furniture, relocating residents' rooms, and repositioning equipment and fixtures as needed.
  3. Environmental Services Assistance (10%)
    • Assist other Environmental Services staff with various tasks as required, such as maintaining accurate records of environmental supplies and ensuring proper inventory management.
    • Clean outdoor furniture and keep outside courtyards and grounds free of debris.
  4. Compliance and Training (10%)
    • Follow infection control guidelines and ensure adherence to all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy rules and regulations.
    • Attend required meetings, complete mandatory training, and participate in annual HIPAA training sessions.
    • Provide exceptional customer service and high-quality care by showing compassion and empathy towards residents and their families.
  5. Safety and Environmental Reporting (10%)
    • Maintain a safe, neat, and clean environment by reporting any environmental deficiencies, such as lighting or equipment issues, to the appropriate personnel.
    • Monitor for potential safety or fire hazards and report any problems immediately.
    • Be prepared to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies or crises.
  6. Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in floor care or environmental services, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Skills: Must be able to read and write, ability to work independently in the absence of supervisor. Strong attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and ability to follow instructions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, pull, and lift at least 60 pounds.
  • Ability to operate floor care machines and equipment.
  • Work is performed in a healthcare setting with potential exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and chemicals.
  • Must be able to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
