We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and experienced Group Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary team in a school-based setting. This therapist will be responsible for leading therapy groups for elementary students enrolled in our Partial-Hospitalization and Intensive-Outpatient programs at a therapeutic classroom on the school campus. In this role, you will collaborate closely with educators, mental health technicians, nursing staff, and psychiatric providers to deliver daily therapeutic programming designed to support students in developing essential skills to overcome behavioral and emotional challenges that are preventing success in a traditional classroom setting.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping children and their families navigate behavioral and emotional struggles, working toward a successful transition back to the general education environment.
Responsibilities:
• Lead daily therapeutic group sessions in a therapeutic classroom setting alongside a dedicated educator and mental health technician.
• Develop and implement group therapy interventions focused on emotional regulation, social skills, and coping strategies for elementary-aged children.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team (educators, mental health technicians, psychiatric providers, and nursing staff) to create individualized treatment plans and goals for each student.
• Facilitate skill-building activities that help children manage behaviors that disrupt their ability to thrive in a traditional classroom.
• Monitor and track student progress, adjusting therapeutic interventions as necessary to meet their individual needs.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed and create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment.
• Communicate regularly with teachers, caregivers, and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to each student’s care and success.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date clinical documentation.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
• Licensed in the state of Kentucky as an LCSW, LPCC, or equivalent (or eligible for licensure).
• Proven experience working with elementary-aged children, particularly in a therapeutic or school-based setting.
• Experience working within a Partial-Hospitalization or Intensive-Outpatient program is a plus.
• Strong background in providing group therapy, with expertise in working with children who struggle with emotional and behavioral challenges.
• Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, behavioral interventions).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviors in a constructive and compassionate manner.
• Organized, independent, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Enthusiastic and motivated to help students, their families, and their teachers develop key skills for success.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience working in a therapeutic classroom or school-based setting with students who have significant emotional or behavioral needs.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and practices.
Benefits:
• Competitive salary and benefits package.
• Collaborative, supportive team environment.
• Opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
• The chance to make a significant, positive impact on the lives of students, their families, and the community.
