CORE COMPETENCIES
- Masters degree in the behavioral sciences and two (2) years experience in counseling clients with substance use, mental health, legal and trauma issues. License eligible preferred.
- Intensive Outpatient Program experience required
- Experience working in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program for opiate-addicted persons
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
- Knowledge or experience with CSSD, DOC and ECC contracts preferred.
- Knowledge of principles and techniques of counseling individuals and groups.
- Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information pertinent to the care of clients.
- Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social, legal and economic effects of substance abuse, mental health, trauma, homelessness and medical issues.
- Knowledge of community and in-house resources.
- Ability to write comprehensive court reports and submit in a timely manner adhering to contract stipulations.
- Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to project a positive professional image that serves as a role model to our clients.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES
- License eligible in related field preferred
- CAC/SCCD Certification a major plus
- Incumbents may be required to secure professional additional certification and/or license
- Valid Connecticut driver's license is be required
