The Water Polo Coach at the Latin School of Chicago is responsible for developing and leading the water polo team, fostering an environment of camaraderie, motivation, and team spirit. This role involves teaching the fundamentals of water polo, including strategies, rules, and conditioning, while exemplifying hard work and dedication to achieving long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain a positive team culture that emphasizes camaraderie, motivation, and team spirit.
- Teach and reinforce the fundamentals of water polo, including strategies, rules, and conditioning.
- Model and promote attitudes and practices that exemplify hard work and the pursuit of long-term goals.
- Carry and manage equipment, ensuring it is available and in good condition for practices and games.
- Implement and integrate the principles of the Positive Coaching Alliance, including "honoring the game," "redefining winner," and "filling the emotional tank," into coaching practices.
- Lead by example, demonstrating commitment, sacrifice, and dedication to the sport and the team's success.
- Collaborate with school staff and other coaches to coordinate schedules and ensure a cohesive athletic program.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration to support the team's objectives and individual player development.
