Meals on Wheels People is seeking a highly motivated individual with a positive attitude and excellent organizational skills to join our Meals 4 Kids team in the role of On Call Program Assistant.

General Summary
On an on-call basis, responsible to assist with preparation, packaging and delivery of meals, training and scheduling of volunteers, packing, pick-up and delivery activities and maintenance of accurate records for Meals 4 Kids participants and volunteers. Complete administrative tasks as assigned.
Hours: On Call
Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour
Location: Meals 4 Kids (4035 SE 82nd Ave, Portland, OR 97266)
On Call Program Assistant Skills, Abilities & Experience:
- Bilingual/Bicultural English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian or African languages preferred
- Ability to work with and manage volunteers
- Strong organizational, record keeping, time management and multi-tasking skills including the ability to set priorities and be flexible to last-minute changesÂ
- Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with diverse populations including minority, low income and persons with disabilities
- Ability to repetitively move 35lbs; routinely moves cooler and cooler bags from one location to another and from various heights in preparation of and for the completion of meal delivery; ability to ascend stairs and move around on city sidewalks
- Ability to quickly learn new computer programs; experience with client data management systems preferred
- Vehicle, valid driver license, and insurance required to perform job duties
Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Fast paced, with significant people interaction
- Frequent driving throughout service area
- Frequent navigation of sidewalks, apartment buildings and stairways May be required to move up to 50lbs, 35lbs repetitively and ability to frequently position self to stoop, bend and crouch
- Frequent use of knives and cooking utensils, stove, oven and other kitchen equipment
- Sitting for short periods of time and typing
- Dexterity of hands and fingers required for operation of general office equipment
- May be required to work evenings and weekends for special events
- Must successfully pass Meals on Wheels People pre-employment screening
