Summary/Objective
The SBA Loan Specialist plays a vital role in providing administrative support to the SBA Loan Officer, assisting loan officers and customers throughout the SBA loan process. This position ensures compliance with all relevant SBA regulations while managing SBA loan files, processing applications, servicing loans, and coordinating loan modifications and workouts. The SBA Loan Specialist acts as a liaison between the Loan Officers, Loan Operations, Credit Department, customers and the Small Business Administration (SBA) representatives to maintain regulatory compliance throughout the life of the loan.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Stay current with the Security Bank Loan Policy and all relevant SBA guidelines, including the SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), SBA Loan Servicing and Liquidation Procedures, and the Servicing and Liquidation Actions Lender Matrix.
2. Act as a liaison between SBA Loan Officer, customers, bank management, employees, and SBA representatives to ensure compliance throughout the application process and loan servicing.
3. Establish and maintain the SBA loan files, and assist with post-closing loan servicing requests.
4. Prepare and submit Credit Approval Packages, and coordinate with Loan officers and Commercial Loan Assistants in preparing loan files for closing.
5. Evaluate draw requests, ensuring compliance with loan policies and SBA guidelines prior to submission for approval.
6. Assist in preparing documentation necessary for secondary market sales of SBA loans, coordinating the broker process from bid to final settlement.
7. Assist in organizing and submitting default purchase packages to SBA for approval.
8. Review and respond to incoming phone calls, emails, and mail, prioritizing urgent matters and determining necessary response.
9. Ensure compliance with all bank regulations, policies, and procedures in daily operations to maintain ethical and legal standards.

Essential Functions
• Maintain consistent attendance per policy guidelines. Exceptions to this, for medical or other pre-approved absences, should be documented in an individual’s personnel file.
• Communicate effectively with SBA representatives, employees, and customers in person, by phone, and/or by email.
• Employee must be able to input, retrieve and assess information from the computer and other office machinery.
• Employee will operate a computer and other standard office communication devices and productivity machinery.
• Must be able to stay in a stationary position for a minimum of 50% of work hours.

• Proficiency in interpreting tax returns and financial statement

Work Details:
• Supervisory: None
• Work Environment: Bank main branch office
• Position Type: Onsite, Full-time, non-exempt (40 hours/week, Mon-Fri, 8 AM–5 PM)
• Reports To: SBA Loan Officer

Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent (preference for bachelor’s in finance or banking)
• SBA loan experience preferred
• Minimum two years of banking or accounting
• Must be bondable
