We are hiring an Accounting Manager.  This is a hybrid position, applicants should reside in Colorado and be able to be in Longmont office two times weekly.

Position Summary: This role will oversee the daily accounting operations, ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards, manage internal financial reporting, and support strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in general accounting and the leadership ability to manage a small accounting team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee the general ledger, month-end close, and financial statement preparation
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory, and title insurance industry regulations
  • Prepare and file regulatory and financial reports for state departments of insurance
  • Maintain internal controls and assist in process improvement initiatives
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, review work for accuracy and compliance
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Work with external auditors, tax preparers, and consultants as needed
  • Prepare state premium tax returns and state regulatory filings
  • Support strategic initiatives such as financial system upgrades or expansion into new states and markets
  • Familiarity with title agency or underwriter operations, premium remittances, and statutory accounting
  • Knowledge of state-specific title insurance financial reporting requirements
  • Working knowledge of automation tools or financial systems integration

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, coaches, and training staff within the department.
  • Oversee the day-to-day workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations. 
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed in accordance with company policy and in collaboration with HR.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or related field (CPA preferred) and at least three years of experience.

Language Ability: Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public.

Mathematical Ability: Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Suite; advanced proficiency in MS Excel. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains or Business Central.
