Description

Responsible for assuring Midwest Transplant Network tissue donor record quality assurance processes are completed timely and accurately. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

ADMINISTRATIVE FOCUS

  1. Ensures proper authorization, informed authorization disclosure and medical social history interviews are performed by all tissue approach staff by reviewing a designated percentage of calls as directed by management.
  2. Follows up with designated staff and Director, Quality & Safety as needed to gather data for the dashboards and spreadsheets.
  3. Assists the Director, Quality & Safety with internal and external audit processes.
  4. Works with department leaders to track, trend and evaluate stakeholder feedback results as requested.
  5. Assists in performance improvement by participating in testing of software updates, new software and developed reports.
  6. Maintains electronic medical record access for multiple hospital systems.

TISSUE FOCUS

  1. Receives tissue donor recovery records from appropriate personnel and proceeds with quality assurance utilizing established processes as outlined by departmental leadership.
  2. Meets established chart review goals.
  3. Responsible for gathering and processing all tissue donor records, ensuring all required and pertinent information is present from laboratories, medical examiners/coroners, and other sources.
  4. Responsible for communicating all necessary information with tissue banks receiving donor tissue, including autopsies, serology test results and other information as needed or requested.
  5. Recommends training where necessary for MTN staff involved in case documentation. 
  6. Participates in preparing MTN for external audits by FDA and/or tissue processors.
  7. Performs data entry, data tracking and data trending as needed.
  8. Under the direction of the Director, Quality & Safety, responsible for all activities related to tissue donor follow-up and communication with processors to ensure transplantation of tissues.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Associates degree, or equivalent knowledge and skill with one to two years related work experience required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. Experience with quality assurance in a health-related field and procurement knowledge preferred.
  3. Ability to self-motivate, function autonomously and multi-task.
  4. Excellent attention to detail required.
  5. Excellent computer program skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  6. Adaptable, dependable and ethical.
  7. Possess strong problem solving skills with ability to monitor own work for accuracy and thoroughness.
  8. Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently.
  9. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy.  Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines.  Must be able to travel within the service area by ground or air.
  10. Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, including some nights and weekends for meetings.
  11. Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances.
  12. Possess ability to operate telephones, computers and office equipment.
  13. Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information in person or by phone.
  14. OSHA Category III – No exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties.
  15. Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
