MISSION:
The mission of the YMCA of the Foothills is to organize, develop, finance, and conduct programs for an association of persons of all ages that will, by putting Christian principles into practice, enrich the quality of their lives spiritually, mentally, physically and socially.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Chaplain & Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for carrying out variety of tactics and programs that are aligned with the Association’s strategic direction through community enrichment programs, services and initiatives. The Chaplain will work effectively with the Director of Mission Advancement, serving community members and stakeholders to connect funding, special events, community outreach and advocacy opportunities for the YMCA of the Foothills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide spiritual care to members that can be pivotal to wellbeing in today’s demanding culture including monthly events.
- Work with the Director of Mission Advancement on the creation and implementation of special programming and special events for community members, including YLive-virtual messages of faith, Caregivers Night Out, Hearts For Siblings and other community outreach programs.
- Participate in the Foothills corridor Clergy Council as a representative of the YMCA of the Foothills.
- Recruit and train volunteers to assist with community outreach events.
- Promote the Y, initiatives, programs, and benefits and activities that serve the Mission Advancement Department strategies and goals.
- Follow and enforce YMCA policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, emergencies, dress guidelines, and cleanliness standards.
- Recognize, understand, and report any signs and/or symptoms of child abuse and neglect.
- Act as representative of the YMCA of the Foothills at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree in a related area preferred. HS Diploma required
- Minimum (3) years experience with member development/communication, community outreach and chaplain services or advanced theological education and training
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

- Demonstrate success developing corporate and private foundation grant proposals;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal and organizational skills;

- CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of employment
