Why Is This Role So Special?

We’re seeking a Software Engineering Manager with Principal-level technical depth to lead the engineering team responsible for our Training Products - core solutions that deliver engaging learning experiences to thousands of caregivers nationwide. You’ll guide the architecture, development, and delivery of scalable, secure, and AI-enhanced applications that align with our mission to improve workforce engagement and training effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, driving excellence, innovation, and accountability
• Architect, design, deliver and maintain complex software solutions using various technologies: PHP, Ruby, AWS, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes
• Implement DevOps best practices—CI/CD automation, IaC with Terraform, observability, and deployment to AWS (EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3)
• Drive quality through test automation, including Cypress for end-to-end testing, automated regression suites, and continuous test integration
• Promote engineering efficiency through DORA and SPACE metrics, continuous improvement, and automation
• Champion security-first development, enforcing secure coding, encryption, and threat-aware deployment pipelines
• Apply AI-driven development tools to optimize coding, testing, and documentation workflows.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Data, and Security teams to align technical direction with company objectives
• Perform hands-on coding, code reviews, and architectural decisions, ensuring scalable, high-quality delivery
• Foster an engineering culture of learning, innovation, and ownership aligned with Activated Insights’ mission and values

Experience and Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering cloud-native applications at scale in Agile environments
• Proven expertise in PHP, Ruby, and JavaScript with frameworks such as Laravel, Rails, and React.
• Deep experience with cloud-architecture, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines
• Proficient with test automation frameworks (Cypress, Jest, PyTest, or equivalent)
• DORA/SPACE-based team performance
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools: Copilot, Codex, Cursor, etc
• Passionate about mentoring engineers and bridging technical execution with executive strategy
• AWS, Kubernetes, or security certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, CKA, CISSP) are a plus
