 Job Summary                                                                                                                                                                            

Moon Valley Nurseries is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Farm Plot Operations Manager to oversee the accuracy and management of plots across all farm locations company-wide. This role ensures that all plots are properly documented, maintained, and updated to support efficient nursery operations.

This position requires routine audits of all plots, tracking readiness dates, managing signage, and ensuring data integrity within the Oracle Farm Manager System. The Farm Plot Operations Manager will work closely with farm managers, regional inventory managers, and other operational leaders to maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory system that directly impacts sales, production, and availability reporting.

 

 

 

 Key Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                                                                                                            

Plot Inventory Management & Accuracy

  • Conduct routine audits of all farm plots to ensure accuracy in inventory records.
  • Ensure each plot has a unique identifier/sign that is updated periodically, particularly when projected ready dates change.
  • Oversee the accuracy of Farm Manager System entries, ensuring real-time availability tracking.
  • Train farm teams on grading plots and maintaining updated records.

Signage & Documentation

  • Manage the production, installation, and maintenance of plot signage.
  • Ensure that signage updates align with any changes in ready dates or inventory adjustments.
  • Work with farm managers to ensure compliance with plot documentation standards.

Data Integrity & Reporting

  • Generate and maintain availability reports directly from Oracle Farm Manager, reducing reliance on external spreadsheets.
  • Work with IT and database teams to develop short-term and long-term solutions for integrating plot photos into the Oracle system.
  • Ensure that each plot has updated photographic records on at least a quarterly basis (ideally monthly).

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Act as the direct point of contact for farm managers and inventory specialists regarding plot accuracy.
  • Report to the Farm Regional Inventory Manager while collaborating with location-specific farm managers.
  • Participate in strategy meetings with leadership to refine inventory and grading processes.
  • Support and guide other farm personnel in plot management responsibilities.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities                                                                                                                                                                            

  • Experience in inventory management, farm operations, or nursery management preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in inventory tracking software (Oracle or similar farm/nursery management platforms).
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to manage multiple farm locations.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while aligning with company-wide standards.
  • Ability to travel between farm locations as needed.

 

Education                                                                                                                                                                            

BS in Accounting, Finance or the equivalent experience. 

 

 

 Physical requirements/Working Conditions                                                                                                                                                                            

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
