Job Summary                                                                                                                                                                                          

Moon Valley Nurseries is looking for a high-potential leader to join our team as a Developmental District Manager. This role is designed for a motivated professional ready to grow into full district leadership responsibility. You’ll oversee multiple retail nursery locations, drive performance of commission-based sales teams, and personally step in to close complex and VIP sales opportunities.

**Employees hired as District Managers in Training are not eligible to participate in any bonus or incentive programs until they have successfully completed the training program and have been officially assigned as the District Manager of a specific nursery location. Bonus eligibility will commence only upon the start date of such official assignment, and no retroactive bonuses will be awarded for time spent in training. Moon Valley Nurseries reserves the right to modify or discontinue any bonus or incentive program at its sole discretion, subject to applicable law.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                                                                                          

  • Train and develop to take on full District Manager responsibilities
  • Manage and coach multiple retail nursery locations within your district
  • Lead, motivate, and drive results through commission-based sales teams
  • Monitor and improve key performance metrics including sales growth, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence
  • Partner with store managers to ensure execution of company standards and processes
  • Step in personally to close high-value, complex, or VIP sales opportunities
  • Work cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and farm teams to ensure inventory availability and customer fulfillment
  • Identify growth opportunities in your district and help shape strategy for expansion

Qualifications

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities                                                                                                                                   

  • Leadership experience in retail or multi-unit management (nursery, specialty retail, or commission-based environment preferred)
  • Strong background in sales leadership, with experience managing commission-driven salespeople
  • Proven ability to personally sell and close at a high level
  • Excellent coaching, communication, and people-development skills
  • Analytical and organized, with strong business acumen
  • Willingness to travel between retail locations within the district
  •  RESIDE IN: ARIZONA / FLORIDA / GEORGIA / CALIFORNIA / TEXAS

 

 

Education                                                                                                                                                                                                 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Horticulture, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent experience in retail sales leadership or multi-unit management may be considered in place of a degree

 

 

 Physical requirements/Working Conditions                                                                                                                                   

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 35 pounds. Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
