Are you a dynamic event and fundraising professional passionate about creating memorable experiences that drive impact and support a meaningful mission?
Childhelp, the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to ending child abuse and neglect, is seeking a Director, Special Events and National Funds Development Manager to join our fundraising team supporting East Coast initiatives.

In this critical role, you will lead the planning and execution of special events that engage donors, volunteers, and communities, while strengthening Childhelp’s presence and fundraising success. You will collaborate closely with volunteers, boards, and internal teams to ensure seamless event operations, meaningful donor engagement, and effective fundraising strategies aligned with Childhelp’s mission.

What You’ll Do:

As our Director, Special Events and National Funds Development Manager, you will be responsible for:

Event Strategy & Execution:
Develop and implement comprehensive plans and templates for small to mid-size fundraising events, ensuring timely and budget-conscious execution.

Resource & Relationship Management:
Maintain a robust bank of event resources and nurture strong relationships with event Chairs, committees, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and vendors.

Volunteer Engagement & Support:
Recruit, train, and support volunteers and committees to maximize their impact and ensure smooth event operations.

Fundraising Program Leadership:
Oversee and support fundraising programs on the East Coast, collaborating with boards, chapters, and volunteers to meet fundraising goals.

Event Logistics & Coordination:
Manage all event logistics including venue selection, contracts, production schedules, and auction item procurement.

Budget Oversight & Reporting:
Track event budgets meticulously and prepare detailed reports for senior leadership and board meetings.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Childhelp teams across Headquarters, Tennessee, and Virginia to align event efforts and share best practices.

Community Outreach & Mission Promotion:
Represent Childhelp at community events and deliver presentations to engage new supporters and spread awareness of our mission.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Event Management, Fundraising, or a related field is required. Equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience:
At least 4 years of experience in special events, fundraising, community outreach, or volunteer management, with a proven ability to lead successful events and manage donor and volunteer relationships. Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven environments is highly valued.

Expertise:
Strong knowledge of event planning, donor stewardship, committee engagement, and budget management. Experience supporting regional fundraising efforts and working with volunteers in a collaborative, goal-driven environment.

Technical Proficiency:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), internet-based tools, and project/relationship management systems. Familiarity with fundraising platforms and event management software is preferred.

Communication & Public Speaking:
Outstanding communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage a variety of stakeholders including donors, sponsors, board members, and volunteers. Able to represent Childhelp with professionalism and enthusiasm at public events.

Project & Time Management:
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Collaboration & Leadership:
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a matrixed organization. A team player who can foster strong working relationships across departments and with external partners.
