Skills and Abilities Required
The following skills are needed to perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. A Housekeeper should have the ability to:
- Read, write and speak the English language.
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agency personnel and the general public.
- Be a minimum of (18) years of age.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, and appearance of work areas.
- Have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to interact with residents based on the maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
- Be willing to incorporate new methods and principles into existing practices.
Physical and Environmental Conditions and Requirements
This position routinely requires a moderate amount of strength and agility, and the use of equipment and chemicals to successfully complete work assignments.
- Housekeepers are required to lift at least 20 pounds, with or without accommodation.
- Housekeepers are exposed to, and trained to work in, an environment with infectious materials, odors, hazardous chemicals, and other situations associated with health care.
- Housekeepers should have the ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents, with or without reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to self or others.
