ABOUT THE POSITION
Gann Academy seeks a full-time, in-person Jewish Life Coordinator for the 2025–2026 school year. This position is key in supporting Gann’s experiential Jewish education and student life programming. The Jewish Life Coordinator helps plan and implement initiatives across Tefilah (Zman Kodesh), Shabbat and holiday programs, retreats, Israel education, student leadership, and travel. The role also provides administrative and logistical support to the Jewish Studies department and other school-wide programs.
This hands-on, collaborative role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with teens, and is eager to contribute programmatically and operationally. The ideal candidate is a creative, reliable, and organized self-starter who’s excited about pluralistic Jewish life and passionate about building community through active engagement and strong follow-through.
Jewish Life responsibilities may include
- Working closely with colleagues and school administrators to help plan and carry out retreats, grade-level shabbatonim, holiday programs, and other Jewish life events
- Supporting students as a Jewish identity advisor, serving as a mentor and resource as they explore their Jewish journeys
- Leading Zman Kodesh two mornings per week, as well as on days when Zman Kodesh is held for special observances (e.g., Rosh Chodesh, holidays)
- Assisting with the coordination and delivery of Jewish educational travel experiences, such as the senior Israel trip, alternative break trips, and grade-wide travel programs
- Contributing to Israel education programming by collaborating on events like Yom HaShoah, Yom HaZikaron, and Yom HaAtzmaut
- Helping to organize and support school-wide events through mentorship, logistics, and behind-the-scenes coordination
- Providing classroom support and coverage, including occasional substitution when needed
- Assisting the Admissions team with event preparation, logistics, and interviews to engage prospective students
Collaborative Responsibilities
- Work with students outside of the classroom as needed
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments
- Attend and participate in department meetings
- Assist with substitution when able; arrange and communicate class coverage as needed
Professional Development, Growth, and Training
- Attend and participate in all faculty/staff work-day programs, in-service training (including both August and June in-service days), orientation programs, seminars, and safety training/drills
- Pursue professional development opportunities in or out of school; display willingness and ability to grow, learn, and practice self-reflection; work with instructional director and other members of the faculty and administration on educational and pedagogical growth and innovative tools and techniques in and out of the classroom
Administrative and Logistical Responsibilities May Include
- Handling day-of logistics for programs and events, including room setup, signage, and supply management
- Running errands as needed, including purchasing supplies, picking up food or materials, or coordinating deliveries
- Making copies, assembling materials, organizing storage spaces, and helping maintain shared program resources
- Supporting communication and documentation tasks, including email follow-ups, attendance tracking, and form collection
- Working behind the scenes to ensure Jewish life events run smoothly, with a willingness to step in wherever needed
