SUMMARY
Atelier Ace is the in-house creative studio that develops and operates Ace Hotel, Maison de la Luz, over a dozen stand-alone restaurants, The Ace Shop and more. Our full-service studio is composed of multi-disciplinary thinkers, designers, architects, enthusiasts, optimists and friends — with some number folks to keep things upright. With a creative and operations team that understands the essence of our brands and products, Atelier Ace creates inspiring, cohesive and meaningful experiences for people.

The Copywriter produces timely, compelling copy and is a content creator for Atelier Ace. The position reports directly to the Senior Copywriter with a focus on copywriting, editorial content and social media content for Atelier, Ace Hotel and affiliated brands and projects. Possessing the utmost sensitivity to the Ace voice, the Copywriter works to maintain and meaningfully contribute to the forward direction of the brand voice. Working closely with Production, Marketing, Public Relations, Design and Graphics teams, this position delivers compelling content for a variety of venues and perspectives.

CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Qualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Deliver excellent-quality, tonally accurate assets on schedule.
  2. Create copy for ads, decks, operating supplies and equipment (OS&E), retail and event collaborations and product descriptions.
  3. Compose daily recurring marketing materials including e-flyers, mailers, offers and more, adapting brand voice to different channels. 
  4. Concept content: content gathering, creation and editing, including artist interviews and profiles, compelling stories and partnership highlights.
  5. Monitor social media for quality on a weekly basis and work with Content Marketing Manager on day-to-day social media direction.
  6. Write partnership materials such as: decks, topic pages, gallery wall text and more.
  7. Help to develop visual voice and content materials, maintaining an aesthetic that is in line with brand and voice concepts.
  8. Maintain, contribute to and enrich brand voice.
  9. Participate in the development of Ace Shop voice and narrative.
  10. Work closely with the Marketing team to collaborate on social media training materials. 
  11. Edit interviews, develop editorial pieces and other forms of content for Ace Reader, our editorial outlet. 
  12. Proofread food and beverage menus. 
  13. Proofread and edit property mailers and other assets. 
  14. Edit press releases from the Public Relations team.
  15. General ongoing proofreading audit of website, online shop, social media posts and all other front-facing and internal-facing collateral.  

SUPPORTING FUNCTIONS
In addition to the core focus & responsibilities, the candidate is expected to complete the following duties:

  1. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing tasks as needed.
  2. Coordinate with outside agencies, art services, web designer, marketing, printers, and colleagues as necessary.
  3. Attend and participate in weekly design meetings and brainstorms, and track project hours.

  1. High level of experience writing in brand voice with an ability to adapt across a portfolio with various outlets.
  2. Ability to execute work expertly across multiple platforms, including short form marketing and social content and longer form editorial. 
  3. Flexible and open-minded: able to handle rapidly shifting priorities, critiques and short deadlines with grace and positivity.
  4. A strong interest in design.
  5. Organized and able to efficiently multitask while juggling deadlines for several projects simultaneously.
  6. Self-motivated and driven, ability to work independently. But also as part of a team. We’re looking for someone with a passion for collaboration and brainstorms.
  7. Curiosity, drive and willingness to develop multiple concept explorations.
  8. Other language, mathematical and reasoning abilities as outlined below.
  9. Ability to comply with physical demands as outlined below.
  10. Knowledge and understanding of Atelier and Ace culture and initiatives.
  11. Cultural awareness.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism or related field, or the equivalent experience to provide the knowledge and skills required. Minimum three years proven experience in professional writing. Expertise gained working in a service and quality centric environment is preferred and considered an asset.

Candidate must meet the following cognitive abilities:

  3. Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written English (additional foreign languages are encouraged and preferred).

  6. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
