 We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Airfield Operations Specialist. In this crucial role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the compliance of airfield and airport operations with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and Sanford Airport Authority (SAA) regulations. As an Airfield Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting inspections, enforcing security measures, and responding to emergencies within the Airport Operation Area (AOA). Your expertise in 14 FAR Part 139 and 49 CFR Part 1542 regulations, coupled with strong communication and coordination skills, will contribute to maintaining a secure and efficient airfield environment. SCOPE:

Perform a variety of responsibilities to oversee airfield operations, ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and Sanford Airport Authority (SAA) regulations. Execute duties within established guidelines and adhere to standard methods and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure strict adherence to 14 FAR Part 139 and 49 CFR Part 1542 regulations.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of the airfield and airport facilities three times daily, and after accidents/incidents, severe weather, or closures.
  • Inspect runway pavement before departures for foreign objects, debris, and wildlife.
  • Monitor and report issues related to lighting, signage, vehicles, gates, and doors, addressing security concerns promptly.
  • Check and secure aircraft and gates within the Airport Operation Area (AOA) to maintain overall security.
  • Conduct inspections of terminal buildings and perimeter, identifying potential breaches in fences and ensuring locked gates.
  • Utilize a work order system for Maintenance to address security-related issues, following up on work orders.
  • Respond to accidents/incidents within AOA, implementing the Airport Emergency Plan and coordinating with the Incident Command Center.
  • Enforce the airport security plan by verifying badges of individuals entering secure areas and appropriately escorting unbadged persons.
  • Patrol grounds for suspicious items, vehicles, and cleanliness, ensuring the functionality of doors, gates, and lighting.
  • Check ground transportation for proper permitting.
  • Inspect fueling facilities and vehicles for compliance.
  • Notice Issuance and Emergency Response:
  • Issue Notice to Airmen based on prescribed conditions.
  • Respond to emergency situations inside AOA, assisting emergency personnel as required.
  • Perform or assist with additional operations as needed to maintain workflow.
  • Maintain a safe work area, following safety procedures and equipment rules.
  • Attend meetings and work groups to stay informed about new developments, requirements, and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Hand tools, vehicles, radios, propane cannon, pyrotechnics, shotguns, bug spray, designated safety equipment, and computers.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of 14 FAR Part 139 and 49 CFR Part 1542 regulations.
  • Emergency response and incident management skills.
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities.
  • Proficiency in utilizing a work order system for issue resolution.
  • Familiarity with security plan enforcement and badging procedures.
  • Attention to detail in patrolling and inspection activities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in airfield operations or related field preferred.
  • Certification in Emergency Response or Incident Management is a plus.
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and have a favorable driving record.
  • Must successfully pass a full Federal Fingerprint Background Check.
  • Must pass a 10-panerl drug screening.
