Description

Academy of Hope is seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst who thrives on transforming complex datasets into actionable insights that drive educational outcomes for adult learners. If you have the technical expertise, analytical rigor, and focus to excel in a data-intensive role that directly impacts student success and organizational improvement, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

The Data Analyst plays a central role on the Performance, Evaluation and Research (PER) Team by serving as the lead for internal reporting, data sharing, and program evaluation. The Analyst works closely with other departments including Academics and Development to ensure that student data practices follow best practices, remain compliant with external requirements, and support organizational improvement.

The Analyst is responsible for interpreting and applying guidance from OSSE, DC PCSB, and other entities, and for ensuring that our internal systems remain aligned with changing accountability and compliance requirements. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to transform and join complex data to surface meaningful insights to support programmatic decision-making and continuous improvement.

Reports to: Chief of Staff
Functional Area: Director of Performance, Evaluation and Research

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Data Collection & Preparation

  • Gather, clean, organize and combine student and program datasets from multiple sources (CASAS TopsPro, LACES, Salesforce, OSSE, and PCSB), ensuring accuracy, reliability, and timeliness.
  • Collaborate across teams to refine data requirements and ensure alignment with internal systems, compliance, accountability and practitioner research needs.
  • Support implementation of data collection protocols that meet external guidelines and internal reporting priorities.

Data Analysis

  • Conduct statistical analysis of student demographics, assessments, enrollment, and program data to identify patterns, trends, and instructional implications.
  • Perform exploratory analysis to uncover correlations, anomalies, and factors influencing student outcomes.
  • Translate measurement and evaluation principles into practical methods that educators and leadership can use for monitoring student progress and program effectiveness.

Reporting & Visualization

  • Produce regular and ad hoc reports for leadership, staff, OSSE, and PCSB, presenting findings in clear and actionable formats.
  • Develop dashboards, charts, and visualizations to communicate complex data effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide senior leadership with timely data summaries and interpretation to guide program improvement and organizational decision-making.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Monitor and support timely submission of accurate data to OSSE and PCSB, troubleshooting issues and ensuring full compliance with accountability requirements.
  • Implement quality control processes to validate data accuracy and reliability across systems.
  • Review, validate, and document data outputs to ensure consistency with AoH, OSSE, and PCSB reporting standards.

Collaboration & Systems Development

  • Work with the Salesforce Administrator and IT team to maintain and enhance SIS and CRM systems for optimal data organization and reporting.
  • Partner with program staff to ensure data systems support instructional and operational goals.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects, providing analytical expertise to inform program design, evaluation, and grant reporting

Qualifications

  • This position requires advanced knowledge of educational assessment, data analytics, and program evaluation. A master's degree in Assessment, Measurement & Evaluation, Data Analytics, or a related field is preferred; however, a combination of education and professional experience that demonstrates mastery of the role will also be considered. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in educational or research data analysis, assessment, or program evaluation is expected.
  • The Data Analyst must demonstrate proficiency with statistical and data management tools, including SPSS, Excel (advanced functions, Pivot Tables, Power Query), Power BI, Tableau, and Qualtrix with the ability to generate accurate tables, graphs, and reports. Candidates must be able to analyze complex datasets, identify trends, and produce clear, actionable insights that inform programmatic and instructional decisions. The ability to prepare comprehensive reports that integrate data interpretation, narrative explanation, and visual presentation is essential.
  • Experience working with Salesforce or comparable CRM platforms is preferred, along with a strong capacity to collaborate on the integration of data across systems. The role also requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently, and strong interpersonal communication skills to work effectively across departments.
