Pierce County's only Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic: Comprehensive Life Resources is looking for a passionate Housing Specialist to join our ROW team in Tacoma.

Scope          

Be part of a team that supports people who are living unhoused in Pierce County in partnership with WA Department of Transportation. They provide support to people experiencing homelessness who often have chronic mental illness and substance abuse issues.  ROW Housing Specialist will meet with assigned community teams, including but not limited to:  Tacoma Police Department, Department of Commerce, contracted shelter providers (such as Valeo and LIHI), Pierce County Human Services, and WA Department of Transportation to learn about designated homeless encampments.  As part of the ROW initiative, Housing Specialist are then deployed to meet with individuals in designated locations to develop a by name list and to provide support and transportation to seek services and shelters.  When clients are moved into CLR funded shelters, the ROW housing specialist will offer case management and housing support. 

This is an outreach position with the expectation of working in the community a minimum of 50% of the time. Outreach workers must be able to meet clients where they are, which may include working in varying hazard/unsanitary conditions and being able to navigate a variety of terrain in all types of weather.

This position requires driving to and from locations where clients are located and may include driving clients.

ROW Housing Specialists assist with the intake process in an efficient and friendly manner and provide other supportive services as assigned.

 

Responsibilities

  • Follow documentation processes and procedures established for Forensic Harps consumers and housing and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Work with program manager and director to ensure housing outcomes, improvement, and compliance.
  • Provide direct service to clients
  • Attend all mandatory meetings
  • Perform administrative duties that support client enrollment and ongoing support
  • Participate with team move in/ out and regular inspections as assigned.
  • Support the turnover of master leasing units
  • Organize and request and maintenance repairs with owners of properties
  • Prepare and attend consults as assigned by supervisor
  • Review and respond to emails, messages, and phone every day
  • Work with other community providers and referring agencies.
  • Create, facilitate and document approved groups/activities on site at various locations.
  • Ensure that ethical and professional standards of practice are maintained.
  • Attend all required professional development training as assigned by contract or supervisor
  • Provides consistent professional and quality service with all client interactions
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in social services preferred
  • Strong understanding of DSM-V and proficient knowledge of therapeutic interventions
  • Proficiency in using Evidenced Based Practices (EBPs) such as CBT (especially CBT-P), ACT, and MI preferred
  • WA State credential/license.  Associate license/ license preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license; proof of insurance.
