POSITION SUMMARY

The Summer Daycamp site director, directly reporting to the Youth Services Coordinator/Director, supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Site Director for the YMCA of South Alabama shall be responsible for implementing and sustaining all summer daycamp programming and staff development for the assigned YMCA camp site.

  • YMCA assistant site director experience preferred
  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in education or a similar field preferred.
  • Must possess oral, auditory, and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with members and staff.
  • Positive role model with strong leadership, conflict resolution, and diplomacy skills.
  • Must be capable of directing the daily administrative, program-related, and supervisory responsibilities of summer daycamp for the YMCA branch assigned.
  • CPR/02 and First Aid/AED certifications required within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of 3 verifiable years of YMCA youth services counselor experience required.
  • Ability to take direction and work as a team member.
  • Ability to coach and lead staff team.
  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, stoop, crawl, reach, stretch, grasp, pull, push, climb, lift, and carry a maximum of 30 pounds.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provides leadership and general management for assigned summer daycamp site.
  • Ensures that breakdown and set-up for programming rooms are completed to ensure building operateseffectively.
  • Ensures all youth services staff are accurately managed and scheduled.
  • Responds to supervisor, staff and member communication within a 24-hour business day.
  • Interacts with members and staff in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner reflecting YMCA Core Values.
  • Continually promotes the values of inclusion and equity among all YMCA members, guests and staff.
  • Promotes a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions withothers. Maintains ongoing contact with supervisor and appropriate staff.
  • Follows employee handbook policy if overtime hours appear to be required for the work week.
  • Attends staff meetings as required.
  • Assists youth services director/coordinator in program registrations.
  • Designs and implements activities for assigned campsite.
