Summary
The Mechatronics Engineer will design, develop, and support mechanical and electro-mechanical systems used in manufacturing, automation, and product applications. This role requires strong mechanical engineering fundamentals combined with hands-on metal fabrication knowledge, CAD proficiency, and experience integrating mechanical components with electrical, pneumatic, or control systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to improve equipment performance, support new product development, and enhance production processes.
Essential Responsibilities
Design & Development
-
Design and develop mechanical and mechatronic systems, assemblies, and components, including mechanisms, fixtures, automation systems, and tooling.
-
Apply mechanical engineering principles in combination with electrical, pneumatic, and control elements to create integrated solutions.
-
Generate 3D models, detailed drawings, bills of materials, and fabrication specifications.
-
Develop and prototype custom parts using metal fabrication processes (welding, forming, machining, cutting, etc.).
-
Support new product development efforts, providing mechanical and mechatronic input throughout the design cycle.
Fabrication & Manufacturing Support
-
Work with internal and external fabrication teams to ensure manufacturability, proper material selection, and accuracy to specifications.
-
Provide technical support to production, maintenance, and engineering teams for equipment installation, troubleshooting, and improvement.
-
Optimize existing systems for reliability, durability, and performance through design modifications and component upgrades.
-
Create assembly procedures, test plans, and standard work instructions.
Systems Integration & Testing
-
Integrate sensors, actuators, motors, pneumatic systems, and control hardware into mechanical assemblies.
-
Conduct system testing, debugging, validation, and performance optimization.
-
Participate in root-cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation for equipment failures or quality issues.
-
Coordinate with automation, electrical, and controls engineers to ensure seamless system functionality.
