Position Summary:

Emory & Henry University, an NCAA Division II institution and a member of the South Atlantic Conference, is seeking applications for a full-time Assistant Coach, Track & Field. The successful candidate will assist the Head Coach with all aspects of coaching a comprehensive track & field program, including event-specific coaching, recruitment, and student-athlete development. Event specialization will be determined based on candidate expertise and program needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of training programs for sprints, jumps, distance, throws, or other assigned event groups.

  • Provide event-specific instruction and feedback to student-athletes during practices and meets.

  • Support the recruitment of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes in accordance with NCAA and university guidelines.

  • Monitor and support student-athlete academic progress and personal development.

  • Assist with meet preparation, travel arrangements, equipment inventory, and daily operations of the program.

  • Foster a team culture that promotes sportsmanship, accountability, academic success, and community engagement.

  • Analyze video and performance data to enhance athlete development.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and represent the program in campus and community activities.

  • Ensure full compliance with NCAA, South Atlantic Conference, and institutional policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

  • Collegiate track & field coaching or competitive experience in one or more event areas.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and travel.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.

  • Experience coaching and recruiting at the NCAA level.

  • Knowledge of performance technology and training software (e.g., Dartfish, Hudl, GPS).

  • Understanding of NCAA Division II compliance regulations.


Working Conditions:

  • Requires work during evenings, weekends, and travel with teams.

  • Outdoor work in various weather conditions is required.

  • Must be physically able to demonstrate event techniques and lift equipment as needed.
