Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced EHS Manager to lead our manufacturing site-specific Environmental, Health & Safety programs in Richmond, Virginia. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, thorough, and prompt. This individual will be responsible for providing support in driving safe operations in a manufacturing environment. Successful EHS Managers are collaborative team members, demonstrating a capacity for fast-paced work, creative problem solving, and a perpetual willingness to learn. EHS Managers collaborate closely with Maintenance, Production, Quality, Warehouse, Engineering and other critical functions in decision-making.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Manage all aspects of site-specific environmental and safety compliance programs
  • Create content for daily safety focuses
  • Collaborate with warehouse teams to ensure DOT compliance
  • Monitor and document all OSHA required logs and forms
  • Investigate incidents/injuries, determining root causes and solutions
  • Complete safety walks and collaborate to fix identified issues
  • Set clear expectations with regards to safety processes and procedures
  • Address and funnel feedback from associates to management teams with regards to safety concerns and best practices
  • Learn and utilize ever-changing technological solutions to improve safety processes
  • Work with key members of the manufacturing and engineering teams to evaluate new equipment and processes and to assess and mitigate potential safety risks
  • Travel to other company locations for support as needed
  • Compile reports, trends, and graphs on current and historical incidents and injuries
  • Submit Worker’s Compensation claims as needed
  • Provide support outside of business hours when essential
  • Coordinate post-accident drug screening
  • Assist with determining reasonable physical accommodations as necessary
  • Train team members on safety protocol and procedures for equipment as required
  • Organize and lead company safety committee meetings to share best practices between sites
  • Lead and participate in company safety campaigns
  • Other duties as necessitated by the business 

Qualifications

Experience and Skills:

  • 5+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment or similar preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Capacity for fast-paced work and adaptability to change
  • Self-directed learning and retention of training
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with behavioral-based safety programs
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of both state and federal OSHA safety regulations

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or significant similar professional experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Be on your feet for 10-12 hours non-routinely
  • Able to lift 40 pounds unassisted non-routinely
  • Able to reach, bend, kneel and climb while performing repetitive tasks non-routinely
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments
  • Able to correctly wear PPE
  • Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts
