As a Modeling & Simulation Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of science, data, and design, creating predictive tools that define the future of sustainable packaging.

 

Job Title: Modeling and Simulation Engineer

Supervisor’s Title: Sr. Director of Product Engineering

Role Overview:

You will connect laboratory testing, simulation modeling, and digital system development to transform how we design and optimize cold-chain packaging. This role combines technical depth with creativity, applying physics, data science, and computational methods to accelerate the pace of innovation. You will build and refine simulation models, integrate machine learning insights, and help shape TemperPack’s emerging digital twin capabilities. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with our IT, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing partners to bring predictive accuracy and digital intelligence into every phase of product development.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage and optimize thermal simulation projects using SmartCAE, ANSYS, or similar tools
  • Develop and validate in-house simulation capabilities for thermal and multi-physics analysis
  • Apply machine learning techniques to simulation and test data to improve predictive accuracy
  • Integrate simulation, and live shipment data to enable real-time recommendations and insights
  • Partner with IT and software development teams to build APIs, automation, and dashboards
  • Manage and interpret multiple data streams
  • Communicate complex results and recommendations clearly to executives, customers, and cross-functional teams

Qualifications

Experience and Skills:

  • Degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related technical field
  • 1-3 years of experience in data science field
  • Proficiency in Python - Strong understanding of Python syntax, data structures, algorithms
  • Libraries - Proficiency with libraries like NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
  • Understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, and data manipulation techniques
  • Experience with Model/Parameter tuning
  • Applied thermodynamic and heat transfer modelling experience (lumped and transient)
  • Prior experience in cold-chain logistics, packaging, or thermal product development a plus, but not required.
  • Project management experience preferred
  • CAD/FEA experience a plus
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team Player

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 40 pounds unassisted
  • Able to reach, bend, kneel and climb while performing repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments
  • Able to correctly wear PPE for entire shifts
  • Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts
  • Able to be active and on your feet. Some days you will be mostly at your desk, but there are also days when you are moving around the lab, measuring materials, setting up samples, and other activities for most of the day.
