Location - This position will be temporarily located in Arbuckle, CA and then move to the Sacramento, CA office. 

Position Summary:

The Contract Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing relationships with third-party manufacturing partners to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and quality production of goods. This role acts as the primary liaison between internal cross-functional teams and contract manufacturers (CMs) to coordinate production schedules, manage performance, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement in outsourced manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations and strategic relationships with contract manufacturers.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring alignment with demand forecasts and inventory targets.
  • Monitor supplier performance including on-time delivery, quality, compliance, and cost targets.
  • Lead negotiations and contract discussions with third-party manufacturers in coordination with Legal and Procurement.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders including Supply Chain, Marketing, Quality Assurance, R&D, Sustainability, and Finance.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with CMs and internal teams to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO, GMP) and company standards across all external manufacturing activities.
  • Investigate and resolve production or quality-related issues at contract sites.
  • Support product launches, changes, and tech transfers with contract partners.
  • Analyze manufacturing data and generate reports for executive leadership.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in contract manufacturing, supply chain, or operations
  • Experience in

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and regulatory compliance (GMP, FDA, ISO)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Budget management and cost analysis
  • Contract negotiation and supplier performance tracking
  • Ability to manage service-level agreements (SLAs)
  • Strong leadership and decision-making ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Data-driven approach to problem-solving
  • Adaptability in fast-paced and changing environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., MBA, MS in Supply Chain)
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals, medical devices)
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification (e.g., Green Belt or Black Belt)
  • Working knowledge of regulatory environments and third-party compliance auditing.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based environment
  • Willingness to travel (up to 10-20%) to contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs)
  • Occasional need to work outside regular business hours during critical projects or production issues
