Position Summary: The Athletic Trainer supports the health, safety, and performance of student-athletes in the Middle and Upper School divisions. This individual is responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, as well as educating students, coaches, and families on injury prevention and wellness. The Athletic Trainer will collaborate closely with the Athletics Department, school administration, coaches, and healthcare professionals to ensure a high standard of care and support for all student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

Athletic Health & Injury Management

  • Provide immediate care and first aid for athletic injuries during practices, games, and school-sponsored athletic events.
     
  • Assess injuries and make appropriate referrals to physicians or allied health professionals.
     
  • Develop and oversee injury prevention and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes.
     
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
     

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate effectively with coaches, families, and school leadership regarding student-athlete health status and return-to-play protocols.
     
  • Serve as a liaison between students, families, and medical professionals.
     
  • Participate in meetings with the Director of Athletics and coaching staff to align on safety protocols and seasonal readiness.
     

Program Support

  • Oversee and manage athletic training room operations and inventory.
     
  • Support physical screenings for athletes as required by the school or league.
     
  • Assist in developing and implementing health and safety policies and emergency action plans for all sports.
     

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with league, state, and school guidelines regarding athletic healthcare and concussion management.
     
  • Stay current on certifications and continuing education requirements in line with NATA, BOC, and state regulations.
     

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) credential required.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of California.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with athletes, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills..

 

Physical Demands:

Moderate physical effort when working in a patient care environment consisting of standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and stooping. Moderate sitting and keyboarding along with fine and gross motor skills, and manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other equipment. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move at least 40 to 50 lbs. Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to an emergency.

This is a part-time position with hours determined by need and availability

 

 

Hiring Range: $35.00 – $45.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
