Position Summary:
Teacher Assistants play an integral role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students in the Lower School. Assigned to either the primary grades (K–2) or upper elementary grades (3–5), they work under the direction of the Lower School Division Head, Athletic Director and in partnership with lead teachers. Teacher Assistants contribute meaningfully to classroom instruction, student supervision, and the overall learning environment. They are active members of the school community and participate in faculty meetings, professional learning, school events, and other key functions of school life.
Instructional Support
- Assist in delivering high-quality whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction in physical education

- Implement teacher-designed lesson plans, learning activities, and assessments
Â
- Administer and support the use of assessment tools to monitor student growth and inform instruction
Â
- Provide academic interventions and targeted support to help students meet or exceed grade-level benchmarks
Â
- Actively contribute to a culture of learning through collaboration, feedback, and instructional innovation
Â

Classroom & Student Management
- Reinforce classroom expectations and implement effective management strategies in alignment with the lead teacher

- Support students in developing self-regulation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills

- Step into the lead teacher role when needed, including in the teacher’s absence or during differentiated instruction
Â
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and classroom activities as directed
Â
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students
Community Engagement & Collaboration
- Participate in school-wide and grade-level meetings, curriculum development, and professional growth opportunities
Â
- Collaborate closely with faculty, specialists, and administrators to support each student’s unique learning needs
Â
- Maintain open and professional communication with colleagues and families as appropriate
Â
- Engage actively in all assigned supervisory duties (e.g., recess, lunch, arrival/dismissal)
Other Duties
- Exhibit professionalism, punctuality, and reliability in all responsibilities

- Perform additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the Division Head or lead teacher
