POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations will create strategic action plans to solicit corporate & philanthropic funders that align with key priorities at UConn Health. The Assistant Director will be a collaborative professional with a formal understanding of the field of health sciences, and experience in fundraising or grant and proposal writing.
The Associate Director will be responsible for developing relationships with potential grantors and/or industry funders and submitting successful proposals to support UConn Health. The Associate Director is responsible for ensuring that all submitted materials are of the highest quality, fully support the Foundation’s mission, goals, and key messages, and are consistent with and complementary to UConn Health as an academic medical center and its tripartite mission of education, research and patient care.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations and working closely with the UConn Health Development Team, the Associate Director will serve as a primary liaison to faculty, physicians, and researchers at UConn Health regarding corporate and foundation funding priorities, prospects and solicitations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage a prospect portfolio of at least 75 prospects rated at $100k+.
- Raise $1M-3M per year.
- Conduct 20-30 qualification meetings at the 100K+ level; 10+ solicitations at the $100K level; and 40-50 face-to-face, meaningful meetings per year.
- A strong emphasis on the identification, strategy and solicitation activities for foundations and corporations that will bring new resources for UConn Health’s highest priorities., with particular focus on clinical and research opportunities.
- Establish working relationships with key faculty and staff to gain knowledge of UConn Health activities to generate corporate and foundation support.
- Serve as a liaison between the corporate & philanthropic community and UConn Health, facilitating access to funding opportunities.
- Serve as a project manager on complex grants or gift proposals.
- Collaborate with UConn’s Office of the Vice President for Research and Sponsored Programs teams on philanthropic proposals and grants related to research.
- Manage a small caseload (5-10) of individual major gift prospects with ties to personal or family foundations.
- Work with the Sr. Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, Health Sciences to position the team for fundraising success, including internal and external CFR brand recognition.
- Collaborate closely with donors, volunteers, and University leaders to identify new prospects.
- Perform administrative duties related to advancement work Including documenting activity, writing proposals, inputting engagement plans in relationship management database, and adhering to Foundation policies.
- Contribute to the overall productivity and efficiency of the Division/Department’s development staff, by meeting or exceeding goals in a metrics-driven environment.
- Develop and support clearly defined and strategic fundraising priorities within the campaign and articulate compelling cases to advance these priorities.
- Model and articulate the Foundation’s organizational core values at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Major, Leadership, and Principal Gift Fundraising
Demonstrate the ability to personally solicit gifts of $100,000 and above, while advancing the number and quality of principal ($5 million and above) gift conversations in partnership with the principal gifts team.
Potential Donor Discovery
Collaborate with the Prospect Management and Research team to increase and grow the major gift pipeline and overall fundraising success of the unit.
Engagement
Collaborate with Advancement Services to steward donors, engage with alumni, and support events specific to your unit.
Leadership
Provide visible leadership across the entire organization by engaging in organization-wide activities such as development management meetings, all-staff meetings, and staff events.
