Platform by Unisource Solutions is looking for a versatile individual for a hybrid Project Manager and Product Designer to join our team. This role bridges project management and custom furniture design, supporting clients through the full project lifecycle—from ideation and renderings to manufacturing coordination and installation. You’ll collaborate closely with account/project managers, manufacturers, and installers to create innovative, functional, and beautifully executed custom furniture.

 

  • Review Platform project requests with Platform Manager/Design Lead and clients’ in-house liaison (AM/PM) and clarify any discrepancies.
  • Product Quality Assurance and Production Completion (once an order is approved and released). Responsible for coordinating and tracking the following tasks:
    • Targeted date and production timeline.
    • Communicate with vendors to confirm the product is on track for the completion expectation date.
    • Schedule Quality Assurance Check Points.
    • Product Deliveries and Will Call dates.
    • Schedule and attend project installations.
    • Coordinate with Vendors and AM to complete punch items.
  • Produce conceptual and accurate approval and production drawings in SolidWorks, Rhino, 3DS Max, and/or KeyShot.
  • Review design requests, flag discrepancies, and provide alternative solutions where needed.
  • Generate accurate specifications for approved plans utilizing knowledge of plan specifications including fabric and finishes based on the finish schedule provided by AM. 
  • Develop 2D and 3D models per Platform request to reflect client goals and site-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to ensure accurate interpretation of design intent, quality assurance, and to meet project deadlines, deliverables, and installations.
  • Participate in site visits and coordinate with internal and external teams to align design with site conditions.
  • Must develop and build a proficiency and understanding of contract-grade furniture, space planning, and industry specification standards, while also supporting and contributing to design team tasks and collaboration as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in furniture/industrial or interior design, with a focus on contract/commercial environments.
  • Proficiency in the following software is required: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, 3ds Max, and KeyShot.
  • Strong understanding of furniture manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of industry vendors i.e. Haworth Furniture Products and similar vendors.
  • Excellent visual communication, technical drawing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter with strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred. May consider total years’ work experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of design and development within custom furniture manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of innovative design concepts, material application and production processes
