Founded in 1947 by Nina Vance, the Alley Theatre is a pioneer of regional theatre, and one of the leading nonprofit theatre companies in the United States. The Alley has been awarded the prestigious Regional Theatre Tony Award® and the Texas Medal of Arts Award. The Alley has transferred productions to Broadway, Off-Broadway, major European Festivals, and to 40 American cities. Unique among regional theatres, the Alley is committed to maintaining a Resident Acting Company and providing them with work year-round. Nationally recognized directors, actors, playwrights, and designers from across the country have regularly joined the Resident Acting Company.
Rob Melrose, Artistic Director at the Alley, took over as artistic leader of the organization in 2019. His vision for the future of the Alley is both thrilling and ambitious. JOB STATEMENT
Alley Education and Community Engagement (ECE) is a national driving force for innovative arts education. We pioneer arts integration, cultivate the next generation of theatre artists, and foster community discourse. The Digital Content Specialist will work as a member of the team to create high quality content to support the Alley’s premiere arts integration and educational programs.
JOB DUTIES
Under the supervision and guidance of department leadership, Specialist will be responsible for crafting original, creative and appropriate video and digital materials. Specific duties will include:
- Seeing video projects through from conception to delivery, including brainstorming, storyboarding and editing with adherence to specified deadlines;
- Guiding, assisting and advising other members of the team on the video creation and editing process;
- Working with the ECE staff to develop appropriate and effective teaching and/or informational materials and micro-sites such as Re-sourced;
- Supporting the development of basic collateral through the creation of graphics and editing of photos according to the existing style guide, managing ECE assets and templates in Canva;
- Leading the department’s documentation efforts by gathering program photos and B-roll both on-site and in the field;
- Managing the delivery, organization, and archival of all photo and digital assets;
- Maintaining the department’s photo and video equipment inventory.
Additionally, the employee will:
- Assist other department staff with the planning and implementation of department programs, services and activities (camps, matinees, workshops, trainings, etc.), as applicable.
- Support the Marketing Multimedia Specialist with video and filming needs in other departments.
- Work effectively as a team member to market, upsell and maximize the Alley Theatre’s presence within the community.
