Resident Engineer/ Construction Services Area Manager – Municipal

Are you an experienced Resident Engineer who wants to grow people, a department and yourself at the same time? Due to our continued growth, Boswell’s Construction Inspection Services Department is seeking an Area Resident Engineer to oversee several projects and a staff of Engineers and Inspectors within our Municipal Inspection Services group. This position reports directly to our Construction Services Deputy Department Manager. It may be based either in our Corporate Headquarters located in South Hackensack, NJ or our Chester New Jersey Office. Responsibilities:
- Manage and Coordinate activities of several municipal construction projects and inspectors.
- Manage project budgets to track monthly expenditures on project-by-project
- Conduct or direct the verification of construction quantities for contractor applications for payment
- Prepare staffing and cost estimates for new projects
- Conduct municipal constructability reviews which will include roadway projects, sanitary and storm drainage projects, pump stations, generators, retaining walls, bridge replacements, culverts, etc.
- Oversee or conduct construction tasks including bid reviews, contract award evaluations, verification of bond and insurance submittals, issuance of Notice to Proceed letters, construction and pre-construction meetings.
- Ensure project QA/QC compliance efforts in accordance with strict adherence to QA/ QC practices & standards
- Provide leadership and direction by mentoring and motivating staff including training, performance feedback, technical guidance, client relations, financial management and brainstorming
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (and/or related field such as Structural Engineering) with minimum of 10+ years of experience demonstrating increased responsibility from Construction Inspector level responsibilities upward: Prior Construction Supervisory experience should include: highways, bridges, structural components (retaining walls, sign structures, culverts), earthwork, concrete and asphalt paving, drainage, water quality basins and utility construction is required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing is preferred, but not required
- Proven experience delivering large construction projects as well as smaller municipal construction projects
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact in a positive manner with clients, public officials and the general public
- Must be well versed in the understanding and implementation of the NJDOT specifications, standards and details
- Valid Certifications including: NICET IV or PE (preferred but not required), ACI Field Concrete Testing, NJ Society of Asphalt Technician Certification (NJSAT), Rutgers TCP, ACI CCTC certifications
