Job Title: Middle School Athletic Director   

 

Job Description  

All Saints' Episcopal School is seeking a dynamic and organized Middle School Athletic Director to lead and oversee planning, coordination, and implementation of all Middle School athletic programs.  The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, effective leader, and a passionate advocate for student athletes. This individual will play a critical role in fostering a positive and developmentally appropriate athletic culture that aligns with the school’s mission and values.  

 

Job Responsibilities 

 

Program Leadership and Coordination 

  • Oversee all aspects of the Middle School athletic program including team and coach assignments, practices, game scheduling, transportation, and facility usage.  

  • Develop and implement a Middle School athletic philosophy that supports student growth, wellness, and readiness for Upper School athletics. 

  • Begin building a foundation for a cohesive Middle School athletics identity that complements the broader School vision. 

  • Ensure all athletic events are staffed with appropriate administrative supervision.  

  • Maintain open communication with the Director of Athletics to ensure alignment with the School wide athletic program.  

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for coaches. 

  • Manage the Middle School athletic program budget, including equipment, uniforms, and facility needs. 

  • Collaborate closely with the Upper School Athletic Dean and Middle School Dean to ensure continuity and alignment across athletic programs. 

  • Assist in hiring and onboarding qualified Middle School coaches who align with the school’s athletic philosophy and values. 

  • Collaborate and communicate with the Middle School Division Head 

 

Supervision and support  

  • Provide leadership and guidance to all Middle School coaches ensure expectations are clear regarding supervision, conduct, and communication.  

  • Conduct regular coaching meetings and ensure that parent meetings are held at the start of each season to outline team expectations and School policies.  

  • Ensure athletes are always supervised appropriately, including practices, games and while traveling to and from competitions and implement safety measures and protocols to protect the well-being of student-athletes. 

 

Communication and Community Engagement 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents regarding Middle School athletics; provide timely updates, respond to inquiries, and address concerns proactively.  

  • Collaborate with the communications team and keeps athletic information current and accurate on the school’s website and portals.  

 

Event Transportation and Oversight  

  • Establish systems for transportation logistics.  

  • Coordinate all game and practice schedules in collaboration with other schools, league officials, and facility staff.  

  • Ensure transportation to and from off campus events are scheduled and supervised by coaches or approved staff members.  

  • Monitor inclement weather and safety alerts and communicate promptly with families and coaches regarding cancellations or delays.  

  • Coordinate and host athletic events, tournaments, and competitions. 

  • Coordinate with the Dean of Students and Athletics to ensure coach accountability regarding athlete supervision before, during, and after events. 

 

Student Support  

  • Partner with the Dean of students to conduct regular grade checks and monitor the academic progress of student athletes.  

  • Support students in balancing academic and athletic commitments while promoting a culture of respect, responsibility, and sportsmanship.  

  • Promote active participation and enthusiasm for athletics among Middle School students and encourage students to embrace the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play. 

  • Ensure facilities are safe, well-maintained, and suitable for Middle School athletics. 

  • Ensure that all athletic activities and programs comply with School policies and relevant regulations. 

  • Implement safety measures and protocols to protect the well-being of student-athletes. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.  

  • Master's degree is a plus. 

  • Several years of coaching or athletic program management experience. 

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills. 

  • Demonstrates empathy, emotional intelligence, and a student-centered mindset. 

  • Knowledge of Middle School athletic development and best practices. 

  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive athletic culture. 

  • Demonstrated commitment to the social-emotional development of Middle School students. 

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, and occasional weekends.  

  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.  

  • Comfortable using athletic scheduling software, communication platforms, and digital tools to keep stakeholders informed and programs running smoothly.
