Description

The Senior Accountant will lead the daily operations of the accounting department.  The role will lead month end closing.  The role is also responsible for analyzing financial data and preparing trending analysis reports.  The role maintains appropriate financial records and investigates variance matters.  

Job Expectations: 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records by recording transactions, posting journal entries, and reconciling accounts. 

  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information. 

  • Lead month-end close are process in timely manner. 

  • Review all Staff Accountants’ work. 

  • Training/monitor accounting team on various accounting functions. 

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies. 

  • Assist in financial analysis and reporting activities, including variance and trending analysis. Provide support for decision-making by preparing ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as required. 

  • Provide support during audits and other financial reviews. 

  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations. Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries. 

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and participate in initiatives to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency. 

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. 

  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information, resolve issues, and support business initiatives. 

  • Perform AP and AR functions as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

   Required:  

  • Excellent knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the ability to research accordingly. 

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills 

  • Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy. 

  • Dependable time management and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and pivot as necessary. 

  • Positive attitude, energetic and work effectively as a team player. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; includes preparation and presentation of data in a digestible format. 

  • Great interpersonal skills including the ability to deal with a variety of employees in a positive and friendly manner. 

  • Strong drive to lead a team. 

  • Ability to travel to other local locations as needed. 

Equipment Knowledge:  

  • Excellent knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

  • Experience with ERP; Acumatica a plus 

 

Experience Requirements: 

Generally, requires a minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing, logistics and warehouse environment. 

Education Requirements: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field preferred or a combination of education and equivalent work experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credentials a plus. 

Judgment/Reasoning Ability:  Able to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise and diplomacy.  Ability to use judgment and reasoning skills, and determine when to escalate issues, as required, in a timely manner.
