Description

This is a 2nd Shift position. The work schedule is 3:00PM to 11:30PM, Monday through Friday. The SMT/Through Hole Technician supports Enovation Controls’ electronics manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and through-hole soldering equipment. This position ensures consistent product quality, high line performance, and minimal downtime by performing both preventive and corrective maintenance on advanced PCB assembly machinery, including pick-and-place systems, reflow ovens, select soldering and wave soldering machines. This role reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and supports the Maintenance & Facilities Manager.

 

This is a Safety Sensitive Position.

 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair on SMT and through-hole soldering equipment, including screen printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, wave solder machines, selective solder machines, and AOI systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software issues to minimize downtime and maintain peak performance.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, calibration records, and service histories.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Equipment Vendors for upgrades, installations, and technical support.
  • Perform machine alignments, solder pot maintenance, and nozzle calibration on wave/selective solder systems.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor SMT and through-hole lines to ensure production schedules and quality standards are met.
  • Verify first article setups and adjust equipment or processes as required.
  • Work collaboratively across shifts to ensure smooth production continuity and minimal downtime.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and TPM.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment or process failures.
  • Assist in developing preventive maintenance programs and equipment documentation.
  • Follow all Enovation Controls safety and ESD policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area and report potential hazards promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards, work instructions, and IPC-A-610 workmanship guidelines.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in electronics, mechatronics, or related field preferred.

 

Experience and Skills

  • 2+ years of SMT or through-hole equipment maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience with Fuji Pick and Place equipment and Ersa through-hole soldering equipment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills required.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and machine manuals required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills required.
  • Able to work independently and effectively on a 2nd-shift schedule (3:00PM to 11:30PM, Monday through Friday) required.
