EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 79,000 people through 120 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated part time Bilingual Parent Educator for our Long Island Parenting Institute program.

 

  • Wage: $25 per hour
  • Schedule: 10 to 17.5 hours per week (Flex Schedule with nights and weekends as required).
  • Location: Remote with occasional trainings onsite at 80 Wheeler Road in Central Islip

 

Primary Purpose of Job:

The Parent Educator will meet with parent individually and conduct parent education classes and support groups as needed. The Parent Educator will represent EAC Network at community events when needed.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Will provide training to parents both virtually and in-person (of children of all ages) following approved program curricula and ancillary instructional material.
  • Maintain progress notes, provide regular contact and updates with clients and supervisor.
  • Responsible for correspondence to confirm participation for clients.
  • Communicate with DSS and the courts to report on progress of clients.
  • Conduct parenting sessions virtually and within the community.
  • Work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Perform all other relevant duties as determined by Supervision and EAC NETWORK Administration.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  • High School Diploma or educational equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in human or social sciences preferred. Bachelor’s degree in human or social sciences preferred.
  • Must be fully bilingual - Spanish, with the ability to write, read, and speak Spanish.
  • Must have two years of experience in Human Services or working with parents and children, including experience with families in crisis.
  • Must have good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must have ability to work cooperatively with Department of Social Services and other professionals interfacing with program clients.
  • Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
  • Must have access to and utilize personal computer, cell phone, and transportation to perform job duties.
