At the Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC), we have a mission to diminish poverty and enable self-sufficiency for all Howard County individuals, families, and children in need. We take action towards this mission by focusing on five critical services: housing assistance, food assistance, energy assistance, weatherization assistance, and early childhood education. CAC impacts our local society by changing lives and helping create a pathway through and out of poverty or just providing a hand up when one is needed.
Who You Are
At CAC, the Energy Auditor plays a crucial role in residential energy savings upgrades for low and moderate-income families.  Your responsibilities include conducting energy assessments, constructing work orders for subcontractors, and performing quality control inspections to ensure compliance with program requirements. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player who thrives in a collaborative environment structured to meet departmental goals. They demonstrate strong resourcefulness and initiative, especially when navigating technical aspects of energy audits and applying program standards effectively.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site energy audits and quality control inspections of residential properties across the state to ensure compliance with program standards.
- Efficiently manage client paperwork and files to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
- Analyze diagnostic data and use the Hancock Energy Audit Tool or designed software to model property energy use, evaluate cost-effective upgrades, and develop detailed work orders for subcontractors.
- Understand and adhere to regulations, policies, and procedures from funding agencies and service providers.
- Attend and successfully complete educational programs to achieve necessary certifications relevant to the position.
- Contribute to the success of the team by undertaking additional duties as assigned.
