Summary/Objective
The Regional Director of Plant Operations ensures maintenance departments across all locations operate efficiently, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for residents. This role provides guidance, coaching, and evaluation for facility maintenance teams, ensuring compliance with Life Safety Code regulations and all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Additionally, the position oversees infrastructure-related processes, inspections, and staff development to support operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Oversight
- Ensure compliance with Life Safety Code regulations across all locations.
- Conduct audits to verify adherence to applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Oversee licenses, permits, periodic tests, and inspections to ensure compliance.
Facilities & Infrastructure Management
- Establish and maintain an efficient system for reporting and resolving maintenance issues.
- Implement processes to maintain a clean, sanitary, and odor-free environment in compliance with regulations.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and tracking of equipment across locations.
- Oversee vendor-related expenses and assess internal repair needs versus external services.
- Conduct routine facility rounds to monitor overall presentation and orderliness.
Operational & Budgetary Leadership
- Manage budgets and preventative maintenance systems to optimize cost efficiency.
- Monitor and replenish maintenance supplies in accordance with facility policies.
- Collaborate with administration, support services, and purchasing departments to address physical plant concerns effectively.
Staff Development & Support
- Provide guidance and consultation to facility maintenance leaders without direct supervisory authority.
- Support the Administrator in recruiting and selecting qualified Maintenance staff.
- Assist in administering disciplinary actions fairly, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
- Stay informed on evolving regulations impacting facility maintenance operations.
Required Education and Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Internet research.
- Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role within a healthcare setting.
- Extensive knowledge of Life Safety Code regulations.
- Familiarity with survey requirements for maintenance departments.
- Experience with minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC repairs.
- Knowledge of facility systems such as PTAC units, fire alarms, nurse call lights, and network infrastructure.

Work Schedule & Expectations
This healthcare facility operates year-round, including weekends and holidays. While this role primarily follows a Monday through Friday schedule, availability may be required for urgent facility concerns, significant events, or system improvements.
