Currently, Aquatech has an immediate need for a full-time Chemical Engineer to work in our Canonsburg, PA, office. The hours are Monday - Friday,y 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Chemical Engineer will perform the duties described in the job description below and will be considered an Exempt employee.
The ideal candidate will also engage in process design, optimization strategies, and technical data preparation, contributing to the company's mission of promoting sustainability and operational efficiency in lithium concentration and water management.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
- Bachelor's in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or related engineering degree or equivalent.

Job Description:
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop markets and project opportunities.
- Interfaced with clients to gain a comprehensive understanding of their needs.
- Develop a quantifiable customer value proposition for each project.
- Review client project specifications and clarify the level of compliance.
- Design pilot test plans and participate in pilot testing activities.
- Manage proposal preparation.
- Process optimization strategies, such as recycle/reuse/zero-liquid-discharge, resource recovery, and crystallization purification strategies, should be applied to process design.
- Perform heat and material balance, hydraulic calculations, and equipment selection.
- Initiated technical data sheets for proposals and turnover packages.
- Develop design in collaboration with the other engineering departments.
- Obtain negotiated price quotations from vendors and handle related communications until a project is awarded.
- Prepare material cost estimates for thermal systems.
- Provided support in technical clarification meetings with clients and address related proposals, budget, and estimation inquiries.
- Prepare turnover packages for the project team when the job is awarded to Aquatech, including related budget costs.
- Resolve budget conflicts on awarded jobs.
- Provided technical data to process engineers as requested.
- Collect information from vendors regarding new equipment and technologies.
- Participate in design validation, including pilot testing and laboratory testing.
- Complete post-contract engineering activities as needed.

Skill Requirements:
- Must know through coursework or experience: water chemistry; water treatment equipment process design/sizing calculations; proposal/bid preparation; metallic and non-metallic construction materials utilized in water treatment processes; industry-standard software for membrane and ion exchange resin-based equipment design; and water treatment and wastewater recycle treatment system processes (including physical/chemical conditioning processes, clarification process, ultrafiltration (UF), ion-exchange processes, and reverse osmosis (RO)).
- Review and prepare RFPs for water treatment and wastewater recycle treatment systems using knowledge of water chemistry and water treatment process equipment.
- Ability to think strategically and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with process simulation software programs is a plus.
- Coursework in process design, unit operations, thermodynamics, and transport phenomena.
