Description

Facilities Technician maintains and repairs a facility's physical infrastructure, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, as well as grounds. Duties will include but are not limited to performing preventive maintenance, responding to repair requests, conducting inspections, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and managing external contractors. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills to support the optimal functioning of the building and its equipment. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventative maintenance, repairs, modifications and general facility maintenance tasks in the areas of painting, patching, fixtures, caulking, carpentry, etc.
  • Responds to Facility Service Request tickets from building employees. Requests may include plumbing, HVAC, Lighting, roofing, electrical, furniture moves, spill cleanups, set-ups for meetings, and other miscellaneous requests.
  • Assists other technicians in the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and lighting systems.
  • Maintain the exterior of the facility, which can include landscaping and general cleanup of grounds.
  • Complete work permits and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) prior to start of work.  
  • Keeps tools and work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Observes and complies with all company safety policies. Uses required personal protective equipment while satisfying all work requests.
  • Works on and completes all facility team-based goals.

Qualifications

  • HVAC: three years (Preferred)
  • Building maintenance: three years (Preferred)
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities in the following:
    • Principles of carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical work.
    • Principles of heating, ventilation and cooling systems.
  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work effectively under stress, and meet short deadlines.
  • Professional demeanor, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Must have basic computer skills.

 

Education/Experience requirements:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

Current universal refrigeration license and/or other trade licenses (A/C, electrical, plumbing) preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 45 pounds without assistance.
