Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Virtual Production Supervisor/Specialist to join our innovative studio in Oklahoma City. This pivotal role demands a deep technical understanding of cutting-edge virtual production technologies, including LED volume integration, processing, and server infrastructure. The ideal candidate will also possess expert-level proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 for environment creation and optimization, alongside a proven ability to manage project budgets and generate accurate client quotes. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can troubleshoot complex systems, drive artistic vision through technical execution, and contribute significantly to the growth and success of our virtual production capabilities.
Essential Job Functions
- Technical Lead for Virtual Production Systems: The primary technical expert for all virtual production hardware and software, including LED walls, LED processors (Brompton), media servers, virtual production software (Disguise), and camera tracking systems.
- Unreal Engine Environment Development: Lead the creation, optimization, and integration of high-fidelity virtual environments within Unreal Engine 5, ensuring real-time performance and visual fidelity for virtual production shoots.
- Budgeting and Quoting: Develop detailed project budgets and provide accurate cost estimates and quotes for virtual production projects, considering hardware, software, personnel, and operational expenses.
- On-Set Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level technical support and real-time troubleshooting during virtual production shoots, quickly resolving issues related to hardware, software, and real-time rendering.
- Pipeline Development and Optimization: Contribute to the development and refinement of efficient virtual production workflows and pipelines, automating processes where possible to improve productivity and quality.
- Research and Development: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in virtual production technology, recommending new tools, techniques, and hardware to keep the studio at the forefront of the industry.
- Manage Team: Manager junior technical staff, sharing knowledge and best practices in virtual production technologies and Unreal Engine workflows.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest quality of virtual environments and on-set real-time composites, performing rigorous testing and quality checks.
- Client and Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring project requirements are met and expectations are managed.
- Traditional Production Assistance: Capable of stepping into traditional production roles as needed per project, such as camera operating, lighting, grip, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
