Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a skilled Psychiatrist PRN (as needed) to provide comprehensive psychiatric care for clients in our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). In this Daytime in-person role, you will conduct medication evaluations, manage medication, and provide psychiatric assessments as part of a collaborative team of prescribers. The ideal candidate is passionate about mental health care, eager to work with individuals in crisis, and enjoys collaborating with a team to deliver expert care. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while providing daily psychiatric care, psychotherapy, and social interventions to patients in need.

 

Schedule. This is an in-person position. Evaluations with patients must be completed face-to-face, the nurses on the unit need to be communicated with face-to-face, and the multi-disciplinary team meeting is also in-person on the CSU. We are looking for a Psychiatrist to pick up shifts as needed from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Weekends, and Holidays. Some weekday opportunities could arise when the primary CSU prescribers are on vacation or out sick.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide direct medical and psychiatric services through the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment of patients assigned, on a regular basis as within the scope of State care.
  • Assure clinicians in assigned services receive appropriate clinical supervision, as necessary.
  • Work with multidisciplinary staff to evaluate and triage according to level of acuity, as needed.
  • Share 24-hour on call responsibilities with other psychiatrists for residential, outpatient and emergency care, as assigned.
  • Maintain availability by telephone for face-to-face evaluation of emergency patients, as appropriate.
  • Provide utilization review of all patients in continuing care to ensure appropriate medical/psychiatric services are received, as needed.
  • Attend team and other meetings, as necessary.
  • Provide consultation with other physicians and staff on patient care and difficult cases, as needed.
  • Attend continuing medical education conferences to maintain excellent standards of care, on a regular basis.
  • Understand and comply with organizational goals around quality, compliance, standards, and policies.
  • Complete required education and training in a timely manner.
  • Provide information to credentialing, payroll, etc. in a timely manner.
  • Complete required education and training in a timely manner.
  • Accurately and completely document patient care.
  • Monitor and coordinate care for assigned clients in partnership with the other members of the clients care team.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine / Osteopathy. Successful completion of an accredited residency training program in psychiatry (DO/MDs only).
  • Residency in psychiatry (DO/MDs only).
  • Preferred: three years of relevant clinical work experience.
  • Colorado Medical License or Valid Prescriptive Authority in good standing: Per Colorado BHA regulations, you must hold an active Colorado MD or DO license before providing any client services. An Out-of-state License (even if multi-state or compact) is not sufficient.
  • Valid and Current DEA.
  • Preferred: DEA-X

 

Required Vaccination and TB Test.

AMHR has prioritized the health and safety of our clients and staff and requires all employees to receive an annual influenza (flu) shot and receive negative TB test results prior to their first day of hire. Proof of the flu shot and negative TB test will be required upon your first day of employment. Medical and religious exemptions may be requested.

 

Salary for this role. The starting wage is based on years of licensure and company equity. Paid bi-weekly.
