Senior QC Inspector – Incoming Components Lab

Fareva is currently seeking an experienced Senior QC Inspector – Incoming Components Lab to join our team in Richmond, VA.

About the role:

Performs sampling, maintains chain of custody, conducts inspections and reviews vendor certificates on incoming raw materials, critical processing aids, and packaging components.   Sampling, inspection and reviews are performed according to Fareva specifications, approved test procedures, SOPs and/or current ANSI/ASQ standards.  Incumbent has a basic knowledge of fundamental technical and quality concepts and receives daily supervision.

What you'll do:

Conducts Sampling and Testing

  • Performs routine sampling of incoming raw materials, critical processing aids and packaging materials.  Ensures integrity, identification and suitability of sampled material using applicable cGMP technique and environment.  Maintains chain of custody through sample life cycle.  Executes visual, chemical, physical  and/or mechanical functionality testing of critical processing aids and packaging components per SOPs and ANSI/ASQ.  Performs mathematical calculations and verifies vendor certificates against specifications.

Records and Analyzes Results

Accountable for the accuracy and validity of testing results.   Records results in accordance with cGMPs, SOPs and laboratory requirements.  Learns to recognize atypical or out-of-specification results and findings, instrument malfunctions and methodology problems and participates in the investigation to resolve and correct.  Determines next steps under guidance of management and in compliance with applicable procedures and regulations.  Uses LIMS and other electronic data management systems.

Lab Support

  • Maintains all related records and work areas in a neat and orderly manner.  Assists in coordinating the sampling and testing activities of the group.

SOPs and Administrative

  • Maintains training and follows SOPs, trains junior peers on SOPs and revises SOPs as needed.  Carries out technical and administrative duties as assigned.

Our ideal candidate:

Education and experience

  • Associate Degree in a Science related field preferred; or  High School diploma with 7 years’ experience.

Skills and abilities:

  • Requires basic knowledge of fundamental quality concepts.   Learns and performs well-defined procedures.  
  • Basic knowledge and practical application of relevant analytical techniques – such as RAMAN, UV/VIS, FTIR, Barcode Reader, etc.  
  • Ability to interpret and document test results according to SOPs using all standard Quality systems.
  • Learns to identify technical problems and solve these under the guidance of management. 
  • Receives daily supervision.  Organizes daily activities, including technical components, to ensure timely completion of assignments.  Documents all work.
  • Ability to participate on teams comprised of immediate group members or to work cross functionally, if necessary.
