JOB SUMMARY
The Mortgage Lender is responsible for originating, evaluating, and closing consumer and residential real estate loans in compliance with Community Savings Bank policies and secondary market investor guidelines. This role involves generating mortgage loan volume through established referral sources, community involvement, and proactive client engagement. The Mortgage Lender will guide customers through the lending process, analyze creditworthiness, and ensure timely, accurate, and compliant loan documentation from origination through closing.

Mortgage Loan Origination
· Originate consumer and residential mortgage loans through internal referrals, real estate agent partnerships, and personal business development efforts.
· Interview applicants to determine financial eligibility and assess borrowing needs.
· Provide product recommendations and cross sell related products and services, tailored to customer goals and financial situations.
Loan Processing & Coordination
· Gather all required financial and personal documentation for underwriting.
· Ensure accurate input of loan data into origination systems.
· Collaborate with processors and underwriters to maintain a smooth and timely loan process.
Credit Analysis & Risk Assessment
· Analyze credit reports, income documentation, and debt ratios to assess borrower qualifications.
· Identify loan risks and recommend appropriate solutions or mitigations.
· Ensure loan structures meet underwriting guidelines and compliance standards.
Compliance & Documentation
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of secondary market (FNMA, Iowa Bankers) and internal mortgage policies.
· Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, TRID, HMDA, ECOA, and RESPA.
· Verify that all documents are complete and accurate prior to submission and closing.
Relationship Management & Business Development
· Build and maintain relationships with real estate agents, builders, attorneys, and other referral sources.
· Attend community and networking events to enhance visibility and build partnerships.
· Proactively identify new opportunities to expand mortgage lending reach within the community.
Customer Experience
· Provide clear and timely communication to customers throughout the loan process.
· Educate borrowers on loan products, rates, terms, and conditions.
· Serve as a trusted advisor during one of the most significant financial decisions in a customer’s life.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Full-time, in-office position with standard banking hours.
· Some local travel to meet with clients, attend closings, and engage in community outreach.
· Standard business hours with flexibility for evening or weekend appointments as needed.
