POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Director, this person will be responsible for honest, efficient, timely, and accurate accomplishment of the responsibilities of this position. The Coordinator will understand and communicate the YMCA mission, values, character development emphasis and member service commitment in all aspects of the Membership Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develop, train and lead a highly engaged Welcome Center staff at Briggs/Plum branches which includes, but is not limited to:
    • Develop, implement and provide to all new staff comprehensive training in CORE operations, Y membership and programs.
    • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
    • Perform all the duties of a Member Services Representative and assist, if needed, for staff absences.
    • Attend all staff meetings and assist Membership Director where needed.
    • Maintain a high knowledge base of current programs, sales initiatives and special events.
    • Assist Membership Director in addressing member concerns and resolving member complaints.
  2. Support the Membership Director and other surrounding departments. Provide back up if needed.
  3. Support and/or assist in the coordination of special events.
  4. Participate in the Annual Campaign on a staff team and attend events as assigned by campaign staff leader.
  5. Attend leadership team meetings.
  6. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

To serve effectively in this position, the applicant must have appropriate educational and employment experience in creating and sustaining youth and family programming as well as in communications, member service, ability to organize and prioritize tasks, computer skills and working knowledge of CORE Operating system, Excel and Word Processing. This coordinator must have a full understanding of all aspects of the YMCA. Ability to follow procedures, ensure accurate completion of prescribed forms and reports, and build and sustain healthy community relationships are necessary.

Upon hire:

  • Current Child & Infant and Adult CPR, AED and First Aid must be obtained within 30-days of hire and be current throughout length of employment.
  • South Sound YMCAs - New Employee Orientation must be obtained within 45-days of hire.
